PAC Board
The Board of the LGBT Democrats of Virginia Political Actions Committee (PAC) fundraises and endorses pro-Equality Democrats throughout the Commonwealth. The decisions of the PAC Board on endorsements are independent of the Democratic Party of Virginia, including the LGBT Democrats of Virginia Caucus.

Brad HodgsonPresidentBrad serves as the Outreach Coordinator for the Virginia Young Democrats of Clarke, Frederick and Winchester and has worked with many campaigns at various levels. Brad served as the President of PFLAG of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, and currently holds the position of Chair Emeritus of the Board of Directors of AIDS Response Effort (ARE), the local AIDS Service Organization in Winchester, VA. Brad is also a member of the Shenandoah Valley Gay Lesbian Association, Human Rights Campaign and Equality Virginia |

Maggie SacraAt-LargeMaggie is a founding member of the LGBT Democrats of VA Caucus. From 2009 to 2012, she served as the organization’s first Treasurer. Maggie served as the 1st Vice Chair and then the Chair of the Caroline County Democratic Committee, and is very proud of the committee being named a Committee of the Year by the Democratic Party of Virginia during her time as chair. Maggie has served as a member of the 1st Congressional District Committee, and now serves on the 7th Congressional District Committee and the Steering Committee of the Democratic Party of Virginia. In addition to her service in the Democratic Party, Maggie has served on many non-profit and advocacy group boards. This includes serving as president of Tidewater NOW and treasurer of VA NOW, and as a founding member of the Hampton Roads Coalition for Voter Participation. She has also been named Volunteer of the Year at the Gay Community Center of Richmond and has received a regional Community Service of the Year award when she worked at Deloitte and Touche LLP. Currently she serves as the Treasurer and GSA Liaison on the Board of GLSEN Richmond, an advocacy group for LGBTQI students. Professionally, Maggie has been an educator and is now a Certified Public Accountant. She lives with her amazingly wonderful partner of twelve years in Chesterfield County. |

Steve CochranAt-LargeSteve is Director of Human Resources at HHHunt, a regional property development and management company headquartered in Blacksburg, VA. HHHunt employs over 1600 people in VA, NC, SC and MD in assisted living, multi-family housing, planned communities development, single family home building, country club operations and management and golf course management. Steve has over twenty-five years of experience in human resource management and attained the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) in 1997. He is a member of New River Valley SHRM and is a former member and president of the Roanoke Valley SHRM chapter. In addition to his involvement with SHRM, Steve has served a four-year term on the Montgomery County Planning Commission; is a life member of the NAACP and has served in several elected leadership positions in his local Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County branch; and has served on the board of directors of the Mental Health Association of the New River Valley. He also volunteers his time on the human resources advisory committee for Community Housing Partners, a regional, not-for-profit housingand communitydevelopment organization with communities in Virginia and Florida. A life-long Democrat, Steve has been active in the Democratic Party for over 39 years. He has held various leadership positions in the Virginia Young Democrats, including treasurer and president during the 1980’s. Steve currently serves as the chair of the Montgomery County (VA) Democratic Committee and is a member of the Ninth District Democratic Committee and State Central Committee.

Brian ReachAt-LargeBorn and raised in Fairfax County, VA, Brian has been an active member of the Democratic Party since his childhood. He is an active member of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC), for which he serves as Chair of the (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and Ally) LGBTQA Standing Committee. Brian has volunteered for campaigns since his youth, ranging from small state Delegate campaigns to higher-profile campaigns such as those of Congressman Gerry Connolly, Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Barack Obama. Brian is the President and Founder of Fairfax Pride, which has grown to nearly 900 members in less than two years, and will host the first Pride festival in Northern Virginia history in the Fall of 2013. He was crowned Mr. Fairfax 2011, Mr. VA Pride 2011, and is the reigning Mr. VA Pride 2012 for VA Pride in Richmond. Brian is a member of POFEV (People of Faith for Equality in Virginia), and recently wrote a Bishop of the United Methodist Church compelling them to vote in favor of replacing LGBT exclusion with LGBT equality in UMC law. Brian is also a member of HRC , Equality Virginia, Dulles Triangles , and is a “Friend of Pride” supporter of Capital Pride and VA Pride. Joel McDonaldAt-LargeJoel was elected President of the LGBT Democrats of Virginia PAC in 2012, but resigned later that year to focus on his own campaign for Virginia Beach School Board, which he won. Joel also serves the Democratic Party as Vice Chair for Technology and Communication of the LGBT Caucus of the Democratic Party of Virginia, Precinct and Elections Director of the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee, and Vice President of Hampton Roads Young Democrats. Joel is a communications and IT consultant, specializing in small businesses, non-profits, and political organizations. |
