Dr. Agozino is an intellectual activist credited with launching the decolonization paradigm in criminology with his books, Black Women and the Criminal Justice System, and Counter-Colonial Criminology. He was given the Lifetime Achieveent Award by the Critical Criminology and Socia; Justice Division of the American Society of Criminology in 2024. He received a Fulbright-Hays grant from the Department of Education for a Group Project Abroad to study creative responses to climate change in 2024. He was given the AMISTAD Award by Central Connecticut State University in 2020. And the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech recognized him with the Excellence in Outreach and International Affairs Award in 2020. He won the Best International Documentary Prize for ‘Shouters and the Control Freak Empire’, Columbia Gorge Film Festival, 2011. He was honored with the appointment as Professor Extraordinarius, University of South Africa, 2020-2024. And he has served as a visiting Professor to New Zealand and Australia.
