Cat Porterfield

Cat Poterfield is a wife, mother, Realtor, and award-winning journalist with a strong background in print journalism, specializing in military and local government reporting. Her career has included in-depth coverage of school and city budgets, capital improvement projects, and the inner workings of government bodies. This experience has given her a broad understanding of how communities function and how government impacts daily life.

As a candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, Poterfield is committed to keeping citizens informed, engaged, and represented. With no foreseeable conflicts of interest, she promises to be a clear and consistent voice for her constituents.

Poterfield has been married for nearly 20 years to a U.S. Navy veteran and son of a Navy Commander. Their family made Virginia Beach their home as soon as the opportunity arose. Their son, who will soon head off to college, has attended Virginia Beach public schools throughout his education. Poterfield is also the proud mother of two grown daughters and a grandmother to two grandchildren who have all called Virginia Beach home.
