Makayla Venable

Makayla Venable is a community advocate, former healthcare worker, and candidate for the House of Delegates in District 36. Raised by her grandmother and father, Makayla learned early on the power of resilience, love, and community support. After losing her father at age seven and her grandmother at sixteen, she was shaped by the teachers, postal workers, and mentors who stepped up to guide her forward.

Makayla is passionate about fighting for strong public schools, affordable housing, mental health crisis centers, and addiction treatment over incarceration. Her experience working in hospitals showed her the importance of compassionate, accessible care for everyone, regardless of income or background.

As a young leader, Makayla is running to be a voice for those who feel overlooked – to fight for families, workers, and children in her district who deserve dignity, safety, and opportunity. She believes deeply in community-driven leadership and is committed to building a future where everyone can thrive.
