The Most LGBT Friendly Statewide Leadership in Virginia History
With Mark Obenshain conceding the race for Attorney General today, Virginia is poised to have the most LGBT friendly statewide leadership in its history take office in January. The election of Terry McAuliffe as Governor, Ralph Northam as Lt. Governor, and Mark Herring as Attorney General may spark the necessary changes needed to ensure equality for all Virginians.
The fight is still very much real, however. The biggest hurdle to pro-equality legislation will be the Republican dominated House of Delegates. It’s also critical that Democrats win the seats being vacated by Senator Northam and Senator Herring in order to turn the Virginia Senate blue with Lt. Governor Northam having the ability to cast tie-breaking votes. We’ll have more information on how you can help win in those districts soon.
I hope you’ll consider celebrating this historic occasion by joining us at our Inaugural Brunch on January 11th.
