Phazhon Nash

Phazhon Nash is a Democrat running for Roanoke City Council. Born and raised in Roanoke, Phazhon has been an active participant in his community for as long as he can remember. Phazhon draws a lot of inspiration through lessons learned from his family.

His mother taught him perseverance and hard work: he watched her complete both her undergraduate and master’s degrees as a young single mom with two children. His grandmother being a union member, showed him that he should never be afraid to speak up and defend those in need. His grandfather served in the Vietnam war, and instilled in him a sense of valor, compassion, honor, and humility.

Phazhon is a proud alum of George Mason University, where he earned a Bachelor in Community Health and a minor in American Government. Phazhon’s experience and dedication to the city of Roanoke continued after college, as he was appointed to Roanoke City’s Equity and Empowerment Advisory Board in October 2022. He also joined the Roanoke City Democratic Committee where he served as Vice Chair, and the Roanoke Young Democrats where he serves as Vice President.

Phazhon feels that, although he is young, he is more than prepared to serve the citizens of Roanoke. With their support and trust, he knows that they can and will make Roanoke a city that’s healthier, safer, and livable for all.
