Congressmen Jim Moran and Gerry Connolly, Democrats from Virginia, participated in photo shoots for NOH8 Campaign, photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska  and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest.

“I am proud to participate in the NOH8 project,” said Congressman Moran. “Proposition 8 and other hateful laws like the far-reaching constitutional amendment that passed in Virginia in 2006 fly in the face of our nation’s commitment to equal treatment under the law. Discrimination has no place in the laws that govern our nation.”

Congressman Connolly added, “Equality and fairness before the law is an American value that we all must fight for. I’m proud to support the NoH8 campaign so no one will have their freedom silenced.”

The LGBT Democrats of Virginia are excited and appreciative of the efforts of Representatives Jim Moran and Gerry Connolly to stand up for the rights of all Virginians. They continue to demonstrate their leadership and support. We look forward to the day when all of our Representatives across the great Commonwealth of Virginia are as supportive of their LGBTQI constituents.
