Pancakes & Politics in Arlington on Sunday, May 4th!
On Sunday, the LGBT Democrats of Virginia will host Pancakes & Politics with Rep. Jim Moran in Arlington. For those of you who do not know our history, the Virginia Partisans and LGBT Democrats of Virginia have hosted many events and raised tens of thousands of dollars in support of equality minded candidates for the last 20 years. It all started when a small group helped elect Jim Moran to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1991. Within that small group, a seed was planted and the Virginia Partisans sprung forth. The Virginia Partisans raised money and coordinated volunteers, mostly in Northern Virginia, to elect pro-equality candidates.
In 2009, the LGBT Democrats of Virginia was formed as a sister group of the Virginia Partisans to work across the Commonwealth and to do exactly what the Virginia Partisans had done so well in Northern Virginia. Our vision was to create a statewide organization to represent all equality minded Virginians and elect Democrats to all levels of government. Today the LGBT Democrats of Virginia continues the tradition of the Virginia Partisans, but there is much more work to do!
Virginia is one of only a handful of states that has elections every year. This gives us a dramatic advantage: we never have to dismantle our political machine or let it rest. Unfortunately, it creates donor and volunteer fatigue. However, we can neither slip nor stray from our ultimate goal: to elect more pro-equality Democrats. This is exactly what our upcoming Pancakes & Politics event is all about. Either through activism, volunteerism or giving money, you’ve stepped up. And, we’re asking you, once again, to step up on Sunday, May 4th.
Please help us support current candidates and build a bullpen of young energetic candidates at every level of government that will carry our voice and represent all Virginians. Donate today and plan on attending the Pancakes & Politics event. Your donation and participation will make all the difference!
