Don Scott

Attorney Don Scott is a former United States Naval Officer. He understands integrity, service and sacrifice. Don was raised by a determined single mother from what some would call a disadvantaged socio-economic background. However, his mother, brothers and sisters always had each other and they believed in working hard and fighting for what you believe in no matter the odds. It was a lesson that would carry him throughout his life.

Don is married to Mellanda Colson-Scott, DDS and they are the proud parents of a ten-year-old daughter.

Don is a graduate of Texas A&M University and LSU Law School, and served as a naval officer.

In 2002, Don took an entry-level position with a multi-million-dollar corporation, then rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President.

In 2015, Don fulfilled a lifelong dream and founded the Law Office of Don Scott, PLLC. He has represented over a thousand clients, fighting for justice.

Don sits on several boards and commissions, including with the Future of Hampton Roads, as the 1st Vice President of the Southeastern Employment and Training Association. Don is proud to serve as Chair of the Portsmouth Economic Development Authority. In the past, Don served as the Chair of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, on the board for the California Workforce Association, and as a member and former board member of 200+ Men Hampton Roads. Don is a member of the Eureka Club, is a lifetime VFW member, post #993 Craddock, and a lifetime member of the NAACP. Don is also a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Don is an active member of his church and is active on several community boards and fraternity organizations. He enjoys playing competitive duplicate bridge, playing golf, and spending time with his family.

Don is now seeking to further serve his community as the delegate from the 80th House District in the Virginia House of Delegates.
