Dustin Keith

Dustin is a native of Lebanon, VA in beautiful Russell County, the Heart of Southwest Virginia. He works in the prevention field for the local community services board in Russell, Tazewell, & Buchanan Counties. Dustin leads collaborative efforts in multiple community coalitions on issues including substance abuse, mental health, suicide, chronic disease, and public health. Dustin also teaches prevention education programs in the classroom and works closely with school administration, staff, and students on special projects.

Since competing himself in high school, Dustin has had a passion for quiz bowl and now coaches the Lebanon High School Academic Team. Dustin also works as a Realtor with Stuart & Associates Realty and currently serves as President of the Southwest Virginia Association of Realtors.

Southwest Virginia has always been home for Dustin, and community service is an important part of his life. Dustin is a 2013 recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. He is a Past Area Governor for Rotary District 7570 and a Past President of the Russell County Rotary Club. Dustin serves as Chair of the Upper Tennessee River Roundtable, a non-profit organization focusing on education and conservation of SWVA’s beautiful rivers & streams, as well as many other nonprofit board and committees.

Dustin is dedicated to electing upstanding, progressive candidates to all levels of public office in Virginia. He is the Chair of the Russell County Democratic Committee, the Secretary of the Ninth Congressional District Democratic Committee, and a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Party of Virginia. Since 2022, he has served on the board of Equality Virginia, the leading advocacy organization in Virginia seeking equality for LGBTQ people.

Through his work in prevention, as a coach, in business, with nonprofits, and on boards, Dustin has learned the value of listening and empowering others to tell their story. Only through listening and storytelling can collective decisions be made that raise up entire communities. Dustin believes in this approach and will use it to address the real issues facing Russell County Public Schools as the next At Large School Board member.
