Holiday Letter to Members and Supporters

This year has been a challenging one for politicians and staff.  Our normal operations have all been turned upside down.  Almost nothing we normally do during a year, including upwards of 40 live events, door knocking, or live fundraisers happened this year.  Our entire outlook on the year changed dramatically overnight, and like everyone in politics, our way of doing things had to change dramatically too.

A Sparkling Event for Vangie Williams

On September 1, the LGBT Democrats of Virginia held a fundraiser in Colonial Beach in conjunction with the Westmoreland Democratic Committee. Looking out of the gate on a wonderful view of the Potomac River, while sitting around the sparkling salt water pool was an amazing way to spend the beginning of Labor Day weekend.

A couple weeks ago a friend on Facebook said that she had dinner with her father who is gay. He was voting for Trump because as he put it, he felt that Democrats patronize the LGBT community. Obviously, I disagreed.

As the General Assembly begins its short session this year, I wanted to write to make you aware of some bills that have been introduced. As is true every year, some of our elected representatives are hoping to make an even stronger Virginia where all citizens will be treated equally, while some want to promote discrimination. I hope that you will join with equality minded individuals across the state and contact your Delegate or Senator to let them know that you support EQUALITY for all LGBT persons.
